What is self-exclusion?

If you need to take a break from gambling, we offer a number of options to help you control your betting, including self-exclusion. 

Timeout allows you to take a short break from gaming, preventing your account from placing bets for 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. During the selected time, it will not be possible to reverse this block. More information about "timeout" can be found here. 

Alternatively, if you feel you need a longer break from gaming, you can choose to self-exclude: 

Self-exclusion means that your Betfair account will remain closed for a minimum period of three months, six months, one year, two years, three years, four years or five years and will not be reactivated under any circumstances during the exclusion period (as opposed to a standard account closure request). 

If you have any unmatched Exchange bets, these will be cancelled and the funds returned to your account balance. Any matched bets (or parts thereof) will remain valid. Please contact customer service to arrange for these funds to be returned to you. 

To exclude yourself, select 'My Account' from the drop-down menu in the site title, 'Safer Gambling Tools' and the 'Self-Exclusion' option. You can also restrict your access to individual Betfair products. 

By choosing to exclude yourself from All Products, this will block your entire Betfair account. If you choose to exclude yourself from All Gaming, this will block you from all Gaming content.

Here, you have the option to set a self-exclusion for three months, six months, one year, two years, three years, four years, five years or Permanent. Alternatively, customer service can set the self-exclusion for you.

If you feel that gambling has begun to negatively affect your life or is becoming a concern, the centralized self-exclusion system for betting sites is an important tool for you to regain control of the situation. This platform, developed by the Federal Government through the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF), allows you to block your access to all federally authorized betting sites for a minimum period of 1 (one) month, to prevent financial and health damage, providing an opportunity for reflection, seeking well-being, and taking care of your emotional and financial health.

How do I use the centralised self-exclusion service?
Log in using your Gov.br account (silver or gold), choose the timeframe (fixed or indefinite), and accept the system terms.
