How does bet cancellation due to VAR work?

According to our football settlement rules:

If the video assistant referee is consulted, the event giving rise to that consultation will be deemed, within the scope of these rules, to have occurred at the exact time at which it took place (and not at the time at which the relevant consultation, or decision, took place).

If we settle a bet and, due to a subsequent VAR decision, it becomes apparent that the settlement was incorrect, we reserve the right to reverse such settlement (provided that the VAR decision occurs before the completion of the match or other period relating to the bet).

Bets placed between the occurrence of an incident leading to a VAR consultation and the respective VAR decision will be considered void unless: (i) the VAR consultation (and subsequent decision) ultimately does not alter the decision taken by the on-field officials or (ii) the VAR consultation (and subsequent decision) alters the decision taken by the on-field officials but has no material influence on the bets in question. All bets that are not materially influenced by the VAR consultation (and subsequent decision) will remain valid.

For the avoidance of doubt, we will consider that VAR has been used if this is understood from the referee’s gestures (e.g. hand gestures or stopping play to review the incident) and/or the use of VAR is confirmed by the match report issued by the official governing body that is ultimately responsible for overseeing the applicable match. In cases where it is unclear whether VAR has been used due to lack of television coverage and/or conflicting reports, PPBF will settle bets based on information acquired through reputable feed providers and online sources (within reason).
